The Kannabe volcano is considered to be the newest volcano in the Kinki region, with a crater still remaining on the top of the mountain. Volcanic activity stopped almost 22,000 years ago, and it is inactive now. A great amount of lava flowed out from the Kannabe volcano and flowed down to the Maruyama River along the Inaba River. The lava was hard, so that many beautiful waterfalls were formed in the Inaba River. You can enjoy various kinds of nature activities in Kannabe highland, such as lava trekking, skiing and snow shoe walking on the slope of the volcano.
