Beautiful valley with a lot of waterfalls formed with rigid bedrock such as volcanic rock distributed in spots. There used to be the gold mines in the upstream, where the remains of a village can still be seen.
(1)Gendayu Waterfalls (Ase Five Waterfalls)
A waterfall with a 30m water head. It is formed with conglomerate of Youka Formation.
(2)Ryuo Waterfalls
The largest waterfall in the valley, formed with Saruodaki porphyrite (andesite).
(3)Ase-no-komochiishi
A rock made by accumulation of round gravel. It is classified as volcanic conglomerate, where volcanic rocks erupted during the formation of the Sea of Japan were washed away, rounded, deposited, and hardened.
(4)Ase Valley Autumn Leaves Walk
A walking event enjoying autumn leaves in the Aso valley which is selected as one of the best 50 forest walks and best 100 landscapes in Hyogo Prefecture.
