The plateau formed by lava that flowed northwest from Mt. Oginosen, and waterfalls at the end of the plateau.
(1)Amedaki Waterfalls
In and around the Amedaki area, the old lava of Amedaki andesite formed by volcanic activities around the time when the Sea of Japan was formed is covered by the newer lava flow of Mt. Oginosen. The lava from Mt. Oginosen is so hard that waterfalls have formed. Since the old days, priests have trained here under the waterfalls, and many people have also visited and worshipped the waterfalls.
(2)Nunobikinotaki Waterfalls
Water that springs up from the mountainside cascades down in Nunobiki Falls. The amount of water flowing down this waterfall does not change even during drought or after heavy rain.
(3)Kawaidani Highlands
This highland was formed by the filling of the valley with basalt and andesite lava that flowed out of Mt. Oginosen. The plateau is used as meadows.
(4)Waterfall Festival
This is a traditional festival to welcome the deity of Amedaki to the waterfalls after the long winter, pray that the clean snowmeltwater from Mt. Oginosen will never dry up and will always quench the land of Tottori City, and wish for the happiness of the citizens of Tottori City as well as people who visit the city.
