A beautiful highland surrounded by mountains, where rice farming utilizing the gentle slope formed by landslide is successfully conducted.
(1)Teragi Basin
Basin-like landform was made by sediments deposited in the caldera almost 3 million years ago and collapsed by landslide. Mt. Atago in the center is used as a ski slope. The gentle slope caused by landslide is used for terraced rice paddies.
(2)Hyogo Prefectural Tajima Pasture Park
Stock farm complex and exhibition facility introducing history and characteristic of Tajima cattle. The area is formed by landslides, and the gentle slope is used for farming and pastures.
(3)Tando Haneso Dance
The dance originates from an event where a local leader in the Warring States Period taught fencing to his servants to protect themselves and their families. Then they started to dance for Buddhist prayers with the music of Kabuki drama. The dance is also called Geiodori (art dance) consisting of four kinds of dances. The dancers disguised men or women taking swords and gisarmes in hand perform with drums and music.
