Mio-ku/Tajima-Mihonoura & Hamasaka Area(Mio)

◆Comment from the Guide [Certified guides] Type I guide: 1

The big island you can see in front of you from the beach is Mio-oshima Island. The coastline from Hamasaka Kimonzaki Cape to Misaki Cape is called “Tajima-mihonoura” (this romantic name means “the coast of the sacred fire”) and is designated as a national site of natural beauty and a natural monument. The landform of Mihonoura is largely formed by wave erosion. The landscape of sea caves and strangely shaped rock islets created by the power of waves seen from the sea is very beautiful.
